  • The wearing of expensive clothes, Gold and/or jewelry.
  • Putting on/wearing of makeup.

God emphasizes that neither of these things be done, not only are they not appropriate for church, but they’re also not appropriate to be done on a normal basis.

“What are you doing, you devastated one? Why dress yourself in scarlet and put on jewels of gold? Why highlight your eyes with makeup? You adorn yourself in vain. Your lovers despise you; they want to kill you.” •Jeremiah 4:30•

Reason being:

“ Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.” •1 peter 3:3•

  • Braiding your hair.

“Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire.” •1 Timothy 2:9•

The braiding of hair is not only directed to women, but to men as well. The verse refers to women as they’re more likely to braid hair.

Note: The wearing of Expensive clothing & gold is mentioned more than once in the bible. It’s clearly significant.

  • Men should not have long hair

*Samson was an exception for a specific purpose, it never changed the normal order.*

“Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,” •1 Corinthians 11:14•

  • -And a man’s head should not be covered when worshiping.

“A man should not wear anything on his head when worshiping, for man is made in God’s image and reflects God’s glory.” •1 Corinthians 11:7•

A man having long hair makes it impossible for him to have his head “uncovered” when worshiping because it’s covered by hair; he continues to not honor God’s glory when worshiping until his head is uncovered.

  • Women should keep their head covered.

“But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head — it is the same as having her head shaved. For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.” •1 Corinthians 11:5–6•

Note: If you only follow this rule when you pray it simply means that you do not honor God’s word during the times you do not pray.

The law of hair covering/uncovering does not only apply to Christians, but to all religions that seek to honor God.

“But if anyone wants to argue about this, I simply say that we have no other custom than this, and neither do God’s other churches.” •1 Corinthians 11:16•

Note: God does not mention either of these things as being a sin, he’s simply saying that if you choose to do this, you’re doing it to please other thing’s that are not in God’s name.

Remember: If society “naturally” interprets something as sexually suggestive, it’s inappropriate for a Christian gathering. No matter how much you try to validate it or claim “you’re not the problem” the bible clearly says that you create a problem by doing it.
